This New Year's Day, imagine yourself waking up with a 'clean slate'. The insane holiday frenzy with temptations and over-indulgences is in your past-- it's time to look forward. Here are some resolutions that diabetics should consider.
It's easy in the busy hustle and bustle in life to forget to check blood glucose levels. Make it a priority. Develop a system to make it easy.
Get a Blood Test
If you haven't gotten an A1C test in a while, go for it. While you're there, throw in blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides.
Get Out More
Make this your year to free yourself from the bonds of your electronic devices. Commit to unplugging, even if only for an hour per day, and get active. This will free up time for physical activity.
Keep Better Track
It's easy to lose track in the day of your sugar intake, especially when you forget to count a beverage or a snack. Establish a better system to help you track those forgotten calories so you can better stick to your daily allowances.
Help find a healthy balance so that you can have your cake and eat it, too (so to speak). Diabetes doesn't have to rule your life—it’s all about learning to take it in stride, practice vigilance and moderation. Run your body efficiently, so it doesn't run you.
